A thanks giving day graced every 10th October of any calender year.
Thanksgiving Day presentations
Rev. Violet Chanya(Centre founder): On this special Thanksgiving Day, we take this opportunity to appreciate God for His faithfulness, provision and guidance towards Mvono Community Centre (MCC). We also sincerely thank the church, congregants, partners, well-wishers and friends who have continued to support the Centre in fulfilling its mission.
Mvono Community Centre is a community-based institution committed to improving the welfare and livelihoods of vulnerable children, young people, families and members of the surrounding community. The Centre seeks to provide hope, opportunities and a supportive environment where individuals can develop their potential and achieve a better future.
Over time, MCC has continued to undertake various initiatives, including: Support for Vulnerable Children: Supporting Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) through educational assistance, welfare support and other interventions aimed at improving their well-being. Education Support: Assisting needy children and families to overcome educational challenges and access learning opportunities. Youth Empowerment: Promoting skills development, mentorship and opportunities that prepare young people for employment and self-reliance. Digital Literacy Programme: Introducing practical computer training in areas such as IT Essentials, Data Analytics, Coding and Artificial Intelligence to equip young people and adults with relevant digital skills for today’s employment and business environment and, Community Welfare: Supporting vulnerable households and families through various community-based interventions.
Despite the progress made, MCC continues to face challenges, including limited financial resources, increasing needs among vulnerable families, educational support requirements, equipment and operational costs.
Moving forward, the Centre seeks to strengthen its programmes, expand youth skills training, improve its facilities and establish sustainable income-generating initiatives to support its operations.
As we celebrate this Thanksgiving Day, we invite the congregation to continue standing with Mvono Community Centre through prayers, financial contributions, donations, partnerships and volunteering.
Our appreciation goes to everyone who has walked this journey with us. Together, through God’s grace and our collective commitment, we can continue transforming lives and building a stronger, more empowered community.

REMARKS BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER
Retired Bishop Christopher Chinia: In his remarks during the Thanksgiving celebration, Retired Bishop Christopher Chinia emphasized the importance of recognizing and responding to a divine calling. He noted that a vision inspired by God requires faith, commitment, obedience and perseverance to bring it to fulfilment.
He commended Rev. Violet Chanya for her dedication, commitment and selfless service to the community, describing her as a character worthy of emulation. He encouraged the congregation to appreciate and support individuals who respond to God’s calling by dedicating their lives to serving others.
Bishop Chinia further prayed that God would grant Rev. Chanya good health, strength, wisdom and many more years to witness the actualization of the entire Mvono Community Centre vision, God willing.
He concluded by encouraging the congregation to remain supportive of the Centre, recognizing that its vision is bigger than an individual and requires collective commitment, faith and participation.
His message was a reminder that responding to God’s calling is a responsibility, and seeing the vision come to fruition requires faith, sacrifice and the support of the community.
