A Day of Hope and Connection: Our Year-End OVC Luncheon at Mvono Community Centre
On December 17th, 2025, the Mvono Community Centre was filled with laughter, shared stories, and a profound sense of peace. We hosted our final luncheon of the year for our Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), and we were honored to also welcome several widows from our community.
More Than Just a Meal While the food and snacks were a highlight, the heart of the day lay in our breakout sessions. We divided the children into small groups to provide focused psychosocial and spiritual support. Our goal was simple: to ensure every child felt seen, heard, and valued.
Spiritual and Emotional Upliftment Through these intimate group discussions, we offered encouragement and guidance, helping the children navigate their unique challenges with faith and resilience. It wasn’t just about giving advice; it was about creating a “family” atmosphere where they could express themselves freely.
The Power of Feeling Loved Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children and the widows reminded us why this work is so essential. In a world that can often feel overwhelming, a simple afternoon of snacks, conversation, and prayer can be a powerful reminder that they are never alone.
As we look back on 2025, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve. We move into the new year committed to continuing this mission of love and care at Mvono.
